I have downloaded some assorted Buoy Data from :
Coastal Engineering Data Retrieval System (CEDRS), Great Lakes Region.
(Site does not apear to exist now)
and converted it to charts, to give a quick picture of what sort of wave sizes can be expected on the the Lakes.

There is also some very detailed historical and current Wind and Wave Buoy data, and charts, for the Great lakes at :
