Internet Surfer (28k) "Internet Surfer", a "junk art" sculpture I put together from old computer circuit boards, and old Floppy and Hard drive components.
whale 1 (20k) Whale at Pt.Roadnight (Anglesea, Victoria)
Sparrow's 1 (40k)View of Sparrows from clifftops, note the "Wake" at the middle left edge of the picture, this is hundreds, if not thousands of Dolphins, moving south along the coast.
The next picture is a closeup of the start of that school of Dolphins.
SURFING & SURF SPOTS on Victoria's West Coast, Page 1 of 8
This is not an exhaustive list of breaks on Victoria`s west coast, though the section from Pt.Impossible to Pt.Addis is fairly comprehensive.
The pictures of the various breaks are in order, travelling along the coast from north to south, East to West, starting at Barwon Heads and finishing at Black Nose, Portland
Torquay and Bells Beach Area, from Barwon Heads to Pt. Addis
The Beacon 1 (82k) Beacon Line up shot, at 13th Beach, near Barwon Heads, Picture by Preston.
Pt. Impossible, Aerial view (92k) Aerial view, showing, from left to right, the river mouth left breaking, the inside reef in front of the cars, the 1st outside reef, and 2nd outside reef. with an unbroken wave peaking up. (at extreme right of pic.)

Fisho's 1 (40K) The beach break at Fisho's, photo taken back in the 70's sometime.
Fisho's 2 (14K) The beach break at Fisho's, twin fun days, onshore. This is about as big as it gets at this spot.
Fisho's 3 (44k) Typical Fishos with an onshore SW wind, viewed from Yellow Bluff, the clifftop overlooking Fisho's.
The whitewater on the reefs in the distance (a couple of Km offshore) is usually an indicator that the swell is big enough for Fisho's, and that most of the other reef breaks, ie Bells etc will be huge, and probably out of control it the wind is SW, ie onshore.
Fisho's 3 (49k) The same view, looking a little further to the left.
Torquay 1 (54k) Aerial view of Torquay Beach, Torquay Back Beach is right where the rivermouth is, and Jan Juc Beach starts to the right of the headland in the centre of the picture.
Jan Juc 1 (52k) Aerial view of Jan Juc & Jan Juc Beach. The narrow sliver of reef at the right edge of the picture is the "Bird Rock" break.
Sparrow's 1 (40k)View of Sparrows from clifftops, note the "Wake" at the middle left edge of the picture, this is hundreds, if not thousands of Dolphins, moving south along the coast.
Steps (47k) A view of Steps, late evening, solid double overhead swell, Picture by Prestin.

(Torquay and Bells Beach Area, from Pt. Impossible to Pt. Addis)
Winki, Aerial view (180k) This aerial view shows the reef breaks from Steps to
South Side, from left to right the breaks are, Steps, Evo's, Boobs. Winki Lowers, Winki Uppers, Bells (no waves
breaking, but you can see the whitewater from the previous set), and the extreme right break is Centreside and
South Side. The tiny bit of whitewater at the right edge of picture is Jarosite reef.
Boobs to Winki (43k) A view (from L to R) of Evos, Boobs, and Winki at far right, taken from the base of the cliffs at Steps
Boobs to Jan Juc (43k) A view of the breaks between Winki and Jan Juc, looking north from the winki car park, from R to L, the breaks with whitewater visible, are Boobs, Steps, and Sparrows, with Jan Juc Beach in the distance.

(Torquay and Bells Beach Area, from Pt. Impossible to Pt. Addis)
Bells Beach 1 (42k) The first tantalizing glimpse of Bells as you drive in from the northern end. The bit of whitewater visible is at Centre Side. Bells is just to the left of that.
Bells Beach 2 (42k) A big Day at Bells, 3 to 4 times overhead, 3 surfers out (The resolution is too poor to seen them.)
Bells Beach 5 (52k) Excellent conditions at Bells, a westerly swell peels from Rincon, right through to the Bowl. Even the tourist's can appreciate these conditions :-).
Center Side 2 (41k) Typical Center Side wave, viewed from the rocks, old photo from the single fin days.
Centre Side 3 (73k) Centre Side lineup, low tide, viewed from Bells carpark.
Centre Side 4 (26k) Centre Side, a lesson on "How to drop in :-)", single fin days.
Centre Side 5 (44k) Photo by Jamie Mustard. This is Centre Side, on a small day, looking towards Bells. Jamie is surfing behind me, and using a cheap waterproof camera, casually lines up the camera for this interesting shot. Nice composition.
Centre Side & Southside (52k) Lineup at Centre side (right hand break ) and Southside (left hand break), viewed from the cliffs aboove southside
Jarosite's (16k) Jarosite Reef, viewed from base of cliffs at Centre Side. 500mm telephoto lens shot.
Point Addis is in the background, about 3km away, Jarosites is about 1km away.
Pt.Addis (35k) Typical beginners wave at Pt.Addis beach. Old photo, late sixties.
SURFING & SURF SPOTS on Victoria's West Coast, Page 6 of 8 Anglesea to Apollo Bay.
Point Rodnight. (21k) This is one of the few bays protected on a southwesterly wind, good for longboards and beginners, small waves, but you can get rides from the point to the beach at left of boat ramp, taking about 1.5 minutes.
Lorne 1 (29k) A nice peak, complete with rainbow, its not like this very often. This was back in 1970. The wave here usually peels along rocks to the right, see next picture.
Lorne 2 (24k) The lineup at Lone on a stormy day, Lorne is another of the protected bays which do not break unless the swell is big.
Lorne 3 (30k) Lorne with slightly bigger conditions than normal, slightly onshore. [NEW]
Kennett River. 1 (23k) This is a left hander that breaks at the left end of the beach. Normal break is a right hander off the rocks to the right.
Kennett River. 2 (36k) A typical Kennet wave off the rocks, with a SW wind and messy swell. SW wind is offshore here.
In the heart of Munich, Germany
This spot is in the Eisbach Canal, at the southern end of the "English Gardens", on Prinzregenten str.
Featuring some of the keen Local crew, my thanks to Robert Pupeter for organising a loan of a wetsuit and surfboard so that I could surf the wave myself.
All in all, a very surfable wave, but on the short board, requires a bit more weight on the front foot than normal.
Munich 2 (49k) Three of the locals, one preparing for takoff.
Munich 3 (48k) The "Goofy Foot" Take off, get yourself positioned comfortably along the canal wall, and push off, sure beats paddling :-).
Munich 4 (44k) Closeup of the "Goofy" Takeoff, no problems about getting your feet out of position here, take all the time you need to get comfortable :-).
Munich 5 (50k) Race out along the face and do a top turn.
Munich 6 (51k) Dont get too high on the face though, you'll get swept over the back. If you fall off, get to the surface fast, Im told there are a number of large underwater rocks behind the wave which can inflict serious injury should you connect, as the water flow is very fast.
Munich 7 (57k) No dropping in here, the wave is yours untill you fall off.
Munich 8 (52k) You can go right or left or just keep cutting back between the two banks.
Munich 9 (44k) Takeoff, The "Pro" way of taking off is to throw your board out in front of you, and then jump on to it before it hits the water, this local was an expert in this move!
River Mouth, Waimea Bay, Island of Oahu
This spot is at the famous Waimea Bay,
The local bodyboardings ripping up the multiple standing waves in the rivermouth, which had been opened up about an hour before we arrived.

LUD'S PICTURES "The good old days :-)" Mal's to twin fins. Page 1 of 3
FJ Holden (31k) My 1st "Surfmobile", a 1956 FJ Holden. (Late sixties photo)
VW Kombi 1 (23k) My second "Surfmobile" a Kombi fitted out with
all the requirements for travel, stove, fridge, sink, 3 bunks, table etc etc. (Early seventies)
VW Kombi 2 (21k) Another pic. of the Kombi, checking the surf at
Urqharts Bluff, near Anglesea. This was a popular longboard spot in "the good old days" :-).
The "Good old days :-)" (31k)My first "new" surfboard being tested out at "The Pass", Byron Bay, NSW in 1969. (My first board was a used solid balsa plank, somewhere around 10 ft long.)
Lud and Brothers (25k) 3 Brothers, L to R, George, Lud, and Hans, back in the single fin days.
Southern Lights at Bells Beach 1 (30k) Something we dont see
too often, the "Southern Lights", or Aurora Australis, a very impressive display, around 11pm.
This photo taken from near the "wave" at the entrance to the Bells reserve.
